Bethany Beach is a quaint coastal town in the state of Delaware known across the United States as a beach destination, courtesy of its wide-stretching beach backed by a long boardwalk. Visitors will often find themselves lazing the days away in the warm sand, fresh sea breeze, and calm blue waters of the Atlantic. Together with the towns of South Bethany and Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach comprises what has become popularly known as “The Quiet Resorts,” with its reputation maintained by the state’s Delaware Seashore State Park.

1. Start the day with Sunrise Yoga Classes
It has become somewhat of a tradition in Bethany Beach, both locals and visitors are invited to welcome the rising sun with a Yoga session. As long as the weather allows, experienced Yoga instructors lead dozens of practitioners with their Sun Salutations and related Yoga sequences.
No pre-registration is needed, just show up early in the morning at the bandstand which overlooks the boardwalk at the end of the city’s main road, Garfield Parkway. Sessions start at 10 USD, at 6:00 in the morning every day except Thursday.
2. Enjoy concerts for free
Treat yourself for a series of free concerts, from Friday to Sunday at 7:30 PM. See jazz and country performers, as well as military ensembles, and impersonators belting hits from James Taylor, Elvis Presley, and many more.
Perhaps the best part is that these concerts are absolutely free. But be warned, as the seats at the venue fill up quite fast. You can, however, bring your own chair and enjoy the rest of the musical evening. Also, Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 PM are intended for children, with fun and kid-friendly activities such as arts and crafts and face painting.
3. Movies on the beach
As soon as the Monday sun sets, get the family ready together with blankets and popcorns for this is Bethany Beach’s family movie night. Be sure to be there early as the place fills fast, even though the movies usually start at around 8:30 PM. A large screen is put up on the beach at Garfield Parkway.

5. See performances at the Freeman Stage
The Freeman Stage at Bayside is an open-air outdoor venue in Selbyville, Delaware for the performing arts built and operated by the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation back in 2008. The venue hosts a variety of productions in music, dance, and theater, with tickets ranging from 5 to 110 USD. Most performances are set from Thursday nights all through the weekend.
Meanwhile, families can enjoy the Saturday morning performances together. The Freeman Stage usually shows children’s shows for free at this schedule. Also, this Selbyville venue offers a Labor Day weekend-long concert paired with a huge fireworks display often on September 4th.
6. Go kayaking on the beaches of Fenwick Island
The neighboring Fenwick Island is home to Coastal Kayak – it is an outfitter and watersport-based company offering a full-service kayaking eco-tour of the island as well as paddleboards and sailboats.
Coastal Kayak sits on Little Assawoman Bay, located approximately one mile north of Ocean City, which makes that kayak launch and return as family-friendly as possible. The route for the kayaking assures you with its shallow and warm waters. Also, there are a couple of spots for you to get off and explore.
7. Take a casual stroll at the town’s centerpiece
The best place to stretch those legs and take in the sun and the wind is none other than the Bethany Beach Boardwalk. Over 12 feet wide and about a half-mile long, this has become a favorite for both locals and tourists planning to either take a good morning or maybe a leisurely stroll in the afternoon. The boardwalk also hosts many of the town’s entertainment activities.
Often in the summer, the boardwalk also opens its foot washing stations at designated stops for visitors who wish to wash the sand off their feet. Be informed of some of the activities such as biking, which is usually allowed from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM only. 8. Take a slice of island paradise at the Paradise Grill
One of the most sought after restaurants in Bethany Beach is the Paradise Grill. This island inspired tiki hut place boasts 7 full-service bars filled with great food and great entertainment. Enjoy live music while munching on a seafood-centered American-style menu, sipping on a choice of tropical drinks or the locally brewed draft beer.
The Paradise Grill is also a family-friendly eatery, with kids treated to the pirate ships, a funnel-cake shack, and a dedicated kids menu. Meanwhile, adults can also enjoy the grill’s happy hours which start from 6 PM onwards.
